吉田朗による個展「Empty Bears – A Mirror of Our Time 日々を映す空っぽのくまたち」を開催いたします。

I am pleased to announce my solo exhibition, “Empty Bears – A Mirror of Our Time.”

Yoshida has developed a distinctive practice of painting on the surfaces of hollow resin sculptures, creating a remarkable body of three-dimensional works. Beneath their charming forms and exquisitely painted surfaces lie motifs drawn from the diverse realities that surround us-from social issues to urban landscapes. These subjects are rendered in ways that are at times representational and at other times abstract.

Through these works, Yoshida does not seek to communicate personal beliefs or statements directly. While the intentionally hollow interiors subtly suggest the fragility and uncertainty of contemporary society, the colours and imagery covering their surfaces simply reflect the world as perceived through the artist’s own sensibility. Their meaning is left open to interpretation, inviting each viewer to engage with the works from their own perspective.

This exhibition will feature approximately 30 new works from Yoshida’s latest series, “Empty Bears”.

We sincerely look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition.
